It’s March 2023 and we just got a note from our bank of 27 years that they have something in safe custody for us and they are closing down that facility, so would we like it back? Baffled initially we remembered we put a tape in a sealed package. Songs from around 1992. I can’t remember why we did it, but we had some idea of protecting our rights or something. We were young. We had a business called Fine Things music. We made some money. We quickly spent it.
1992 we had just recently hosted a couple of gigs of our own and of a couple of artists we were helping. I then spent a year working with a guy most people knew as Guru Josh AKA Paul Walden who sadly passed away a few years back. I ran his recording studio for bit and worked on some projects, bumped into a few interesting people before heading off to do an MSc and setting up an audio electronics company called Sonneteer. We had planned to start a record label, but we got distracted building amps. We may have won a few awards over the years. In the mean time I bought a few more guitars and wrote songs. Also, on that journey, I wrote (quite) a bit for a HiFi Magazine and designed some amps and CD players for a company called Arcam. One or two (a lot) of them may, too have won an award or few.
Mongrel Hybrid is picking up the script of the original dream and playing it.
